Before & After Results

What Is a Breast Lift?

A breast lift, or mastopexy, is surgery that reshapes the breasts and raises their profile, moving the nipple to a higher position on the chest. This is accomplished by removing excess skin that has stretched and sagged and by tightening and reshaping the tissue inside the breasts. The procedure may also include reducing the size of the areola (the circle of darker skin around the nipple), which can enlarge due to pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight changes, or age. The goal of the procedure is to transform sagging breasts into a rounder, more uplifted shape.

How Might I Benefit from a Breast Lift?

You might choose to have a breast lift if you are unhappy with the shape and projection of your breasts or with the position of your nipples. By itself, a breast lift does not increase the size of your breasts, although it can make them rounder and fuller. To get fuller and more uplifted breasts, you can combine a breast lift with breast augmentation.

A breast lift can:

  • Restore breasts to a younger-looking, uplifted shape after pregnancy and breastfeeding or weight changes
  • Create a more attractive shape in breasts that have sagged since puberty
  • Raise downward-pointing nipples or nipples that hang below the breast crease to be in a more youthful position and orientation
  • Reduce the size of over-large areolas
  • Make your breasts firmer and rounder
  • Give a rounder shape to breasts that have flattened with age
  • Correct asymmetry in the position and shape of your breasts
  • Increase your self-confidence and self-esteem
  • Help you look your best in clothing, swimwear and expand your clothing options

How Is a Breast Lift Performed?

Dr. Yash will choose from four basic surgical techniques for your breast lift, depending on the changes to be made, and will customize the procedure to your unique needs. The difference between the techniques is in the position of the incisions.

Crescent lift

An incision is made in a half-circle around the top of the areola. This technique can correct downward-pointing nipples and mild breast sagging. It can also be used when a breast lift is combined with breast augmentation.

An incision is made in a circle around the nipple and areola. This technique is used to correct moderately sagging breasts — where the nipple is above the breast crease, for example. It can be used to reduce the size of the areola.

One incision is made in a circle around the nipple and areola and another in a vertical line from the bottom of the areola to the center of the crease below the breast (the inframammary fold). This technique is used to correct moderate breast sagging.

Three incisions are made: one in a circle around the nipple and areola, another in a vertical line from the bottom of the areola to the center of the crease below the breast, and a third along the curve of the crease below the breast. This technique is used to correct extensive breast sagging.

What to Expect in Your Breast Lift Consultation

During your consultation with Dr. Yash, he will measure your chest and breasts, ask questions to understand your goals for the procedure, and review your medical history. Based on your anatomy, goals, and any concerns, he will determine the safest and most effective surgical approach for your breast lift and explain it to you. He may also use imaging technology to help you visualize your results with different implant sizes, shapes, and profiles.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Breast Lift?

In your consultation with Dr. Yash, he will review your medical history, listen to your goals for the procedure, and determine if a breast lift is a good solution for you. He values transparency and will have an open discussion with you about your cosmetic treatment options.

If you’d like to correct sagging breasts and improve their shape, you may be a good candidate for a breast lift.

The best candidates for a breast lift:

  • In good general health
  • Have realistic expectations for the results of the procedure
  • Don’t smoke, or are willing to avoid tobacco and nicotine use for a period before and after surgery
  • Prepare to rest and follow all postoperative instructions during recovery

It’s best to wait until you are through childbearing before having a breast lift. Pregnancy and breastfeeding after a breast lift can undo some of the improvements made by the procedure. If you do plan to have children after your breast lift, bring that up in your consultation with Dr. Yash.

What Can I Expect Before, During, and After A Breast Lift?

Before

Dr. Yash is a partner at the Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute and will perform your breast lift in the Institute’s state-of-the-art surgery center. The Institute is a leading facility for aesthetic surgery in Dallas and among the best in the country. On surgery day, you will check in and meet with Dr. Yash and your anesthesia provider. You will then be carefully anesthetized with general anesthesia before being taken into the operating room.

During

Dr. Yash will perform the surgery following the approach discussed in your consultation. After making the incisions, he will remove excess skin to lift the breasts and reposition tissue inside the breasts to give them a rounder, firmer shape. If he is reducing the size of your areolas, the removed skin will include the outer portion of your areolas. When all changes have been made, he will then close the incisions. The procedure typically takes two to three hours.

After

A breast lift is performed as an outpatient procedure. Once you are alert after your anesthesia, a friend or family member can drive your home. You can then begin the recovery phase. Dr. Yash will provide you with a full list of post-operative instructions and will be available if you have any immediate questions or concerns.

What Can I Expect in Recovery?

Our team will wrap your breasts in dressings and a supportive garment to promote healing and reduce swelling. You can expect some swelling and bruising during the first few days after surgery. Any discomfort can be managed with pain medication. You will be advised to rest for the first week and avoid strenuous activity, including lifting, for the first two weeks. After that, following Dr. Yash’s instructions based on your progress, you can gradually resume more activity, building up to your normal exercise and activity level by about six weeks after surgery.

Because you won’t be able to lift anything heavier than five pounds initially, you’ll need to arrange for help at home during the first week or two. This may include assistance with cooking, shopping, taking out the trash, or caring for young children.

Most patients can return to office-type work after about a week. If your job involves strenuous activity, you may need to adjust your duties or take additional time off.

Some swelling may persist beyond the first week, and it can take time for your breasts to settle into their new shape. Final results are typically visible after a few weeks and will continue to improve over the months following surgery. Scars will gradually fade and generally match your skin tone after about a year.

FAQs About Breast Lift in Dallas, TX

It depends on your goals. A breast lift reshapes and elevates sagging breasts to a younger-looking position by removing excess skin and tightening tissue. It does not increase breast size or enhance definition. Breast augmentation uses implants to add volume and create a fuller, rounder shape. Many of Dr. Yash’s patients choose a combined breast lift with implants for more comprehensive results. If you decide to go this route, he will recommend an implant size, material, profile, and placement to create your ideal results.

Ideal candidates are in good physical and mental health, have realistic expectations, and want to correct breast sagging and nipple position. During your personalized consultation, Dr. Yash will assess your anatomy, health history, and cosmetic objectives to determine your qualifications for this surgery.

Most breast lift surgeries take two to three hours. Since this is an outpatient procedure, you’ll go home the same day with detailed recovery instructions from Dr. Yash.

Expect swelling, bruising, and mild discomfort for the first few days. Most patients return to desk jobs within a week and resume full activity by six weeks. Dr. Yash provides tailored recovery guidance to support healing and optimal results.

Scars are a natural part of healing, but Dr. Yash uses advanced techniques to minimize and conceal them. Most scars fade significantly over time and blend with your skin tone within a year.

Pricing varies based on your anatomy, personalized surgical technique, and whether you choose to combine procedures, as in a mommy makeover. During your consultation, Dr. Yash will provide a detailed cost breakdown and explain associated fees as needed.

If you plan to have children, address this with Dr. Yash during your consultation so that he can tailor your surgical plan accordingly.

Results are long-lasting, especially if you maintain a stable weight, wear well-fitting bras, and avoid future pregnancies. While the effects of aging and gravity will continue, most patients enjoy uplifted, youthful contours for many years.
